Road to the Sky plot

China 1938, the country is at war with Japan and all supply lines are cut off. A supply line from Burma to Kunming is China's only hope. Architecture student Wang is sent from Beijing to Southwest China by the central government to investigate whether the population there would be willing to cooperate in setting up a supply line for goods. He encounters an impenetrable area full of bandits and various villages whose inhabitants do not allow the inhabitants of other villages the light in the eyes.
