Rickshaw Girl plot
Fourteen-year-old Naima longs to earn money for her poor Bengali family, but her unparalleled artistic talent is of little use in doing so. When her ailing father risks losing his precious rickshaw to loan sharks, she disguises herself as a boy and tries to drive the rickshaw herself. When Naima accidentally destroys the vehicle, the family's livelihoods are once again in jeopardy.
