Red Dirt Rising plot

It is 1939, the beginning of the Second World War. Jimmie Lewallen and his friends Bill Blair and Fred Harb find a way out of everyday life by going stock car racing on warm evenings. This inadvertently makes them North Carolina's first race heroes. Their antics eventually form the basis for what has become one of the most lucrative sports in the world. However, Jimmie and his wife Carrie experience the tragedy of war and poverty. Based on a true story.
