Ranger of the North plot
Bob Fleming, a young man from the city, ventures deep into the northern woods, and in Bruce MacLean's cabin he meets Felice, MacLean's granddaughter, who is also loved by Dubois, a fur trapper. Dubois insults Bob, and when he refuses to fight, Felice angrily turns to Dubois. Bob retrieves a porcupine feather from Ranger, a wild dog, who subsequently attacks Dubois when he tries to kill Bob. MacLean convinces Bob to investigate a mountain said to contain treasure; while climbing, he falls into a pit where he discovers a skeleton and a map showing the location of the gold.
