After coming to terms with the death of his brother Sergio, nurse Mario looks forward to a new chapter in his life with the arrival of his first child. But when cartel boss Antonio Padin is released from prison, Mario is assigned to take care of him. Entertaining but occasionally rather far-fetched and contrived action thriller, with a plot that is as exciting as it is exaggerated. The acting is unanimously strong and the film is tightly directed, but towards the end things go a bit off track. Here and there the tone of the film is quite ruthless; I won't soon forget the last scene.

Skillfully directed crime film by director Paco Plaza, who with Eye for an Eye proves that he can also venture into other territory. The acting in particular stands out positively here, with an always reliable Luis Tosar in the leading role. The supporting roles played by Enric Auquer Sardà and Xan Cejudo are equally striking and easily provide their characters with their own personality. Although the film never particularly steps outside the lines or takes large-scale risks, the story is cleverly developed and the ending could not have been more fitting. Plaza has grown a bit in terms of quality per film and his Netflix debut exudes professionalism and experience. Fascinating, well acted and attractively designed, but perhaps a little too much within familiar territory to make a greater impression.
