Ptaki Spiewaja w Kigali plot
The Polish Anna Keller is an ornithologist specializing in carrion birds. She is conducting research in Rwanda when the horrific genocide took place there in 1994, which claimed hundreds of thousands of victims, mostly Tutsis. Anna flees the country, along with twenty-something Claudine, whose relatives have been murdered. The two women have more in common than meets the eye; slowly the shared history of Anna and Claudine in Rwanda becomes clear. In Poland they try to build a new life, but the painful past cannot be easily erased.
