Postmaster plot

Young Nanda Sen leaves the family home and the luxuries of city life to take up residence as the postmaster of the village of Plassey. There, his life is comforted by the maid Ratna, who comes from an orphanage, and by his only friend, the school teacher Rabibabu. Ratna's charm appeals to him and Nanda marries her without his family's will. But then he succumbs to his father's dying wish to marry a suitable mate.
