Audrey has just been fired from her umpteenth job and may be losing her apartment. In her desire to belong, she tries to reconnect with her parents and find a new job. Then she learns about adult adoption and finds an adoptive family. Audrey manages to forge a bond with the patriarch, despite being a misanthrope to the core. Both are outsiders and may find comfort in each other.
