Playland plot
Places that fought (and fight) for queer culture are numerous. The Playland Cafe in Boston was one such place, a home for the homeless in a hostile straight world. Fragments of news broadcasts of the time - politicians wanting to clean up the entire neighborhood and talking about combat zones - are played over free and pluriform reinterpretations of wild dance evenings and melancholic regulars. Audio interviews recall personal memories and memorable anecdotes and, with a particularly glamorous costume design, paint the portrait of a physical place and an entire community that had to make way for urban renewal projects and intolerance.
