Because of her boyfriend Marshall (David Lascher), teenage Dana (Lisa Dean Ryan) becomes a gambling addict, which costs her a lot of money. When debts pile up and she becomes entangled in her own subterfuge and lies, she desperately grabs the cash at work. Her mother Nancy (Shelley Fabares) makes a desperate attempt to help her daughter overcome the addiction.
