Mother Lyn and daughter Iona are unusually close to each other. They are excited for a new life in a new city. After a rough start, Iona befriends Keely, Stacey and Chelsea. Lyn, who considered herself to be Iona's best friend, feels a bit abandoned and befriends Belinda, her neighbor. Lyn and Iona give the impression that everything is going well, but in fact that is not the case at all. Both mother and daughter hide behind fantasies and lies. When Lyn understands what's really going on with Iona, she plots a way to punish her friends and keep Iona safe from her... forever.
