Pierre et Jean plot

Roland, a Parisian jeweler, goes to the countryside with his wife Alice and their son Pierre one Sunday. The boy runs away after a jaw blow and jumps into the water. He can only just be saved from drowning. A few days later, Roland is beaten by a customer from his shop. Doctor Marchat takes care of him. Afterwards, both men become best friends. But Alice and Marchat fall in love.
