Par Ordre du Tsar plot

In the mid-nineteenth century, Caroline Sayn was married to Russian General Wittgenstein. The man had only married her because she was rich and abandoned her to seek new conquests. Caroline subsequently met the young composer Franz Liszt. She fell in love with him and tried to get the pope's annulment of her marriage. But the latter refused and Franz broke off their relationship. Caroline, however, kept fighting to get out of the bottom of the doom.
