Over the Sea plot

Since a young age, 11-year-old Xiaojie has lived with his uncle who runs a restaurant, motel and car wash. Surrounded by the grim world of adults, in which he only receives support and affection from his cousin, he flees and gets lost in his own fantasy. When his uncle gets involved in an accident and forces Xiaojie to make a false statement, he breaks with the adult world for good.
