Outcast plot
"Mob fury knows no law!"
Dr. Wendell Phillips is a Baltimore physician accused of murder. Although he is acquitted, he becomes a pariah and his practice is ruined, so he barricades himself to a small town in Wisconsin. Having built up a friendship with a sympathetic retired lawyer, the doctor sets about restarting his practice and regaining his self-respect. He also gets into a relationship with a local girl. But his past haunts him in the form of the murder victim's avenging sister.
