Op Hoop van Zegen plot

Kniertje is the widow of a fisherman, whose sons all follow in the footsteps of their deceased father. She has resolved to have nothing more to do with life at sea, but also sends her sons Geert and Barend to sea for financial reasons. When the news comes that their ship 'Op Hoop van Blessing' has sunk, Kniertje finds her comfort in Geert's friend Jo.
