Onna Hitori Daichi wo Yuku plot
In the winter of 1931, Kisaku goes to Hokkaido to work in a mine, leaving behind his wife Syo and her two children. Life in the mining village is too hard for him and he runs away. The money flow to Sayo therefore stops and she and her children go to the mine to look for Kisaku. There they tell her that he died in a mining disaster. Sayo now has to work in the mine himself to make ends meet.
