New York's Julianne rises from the rank of seamstress on Broadway to owner of a fashionable clothing boutique on Fifth Avenue. She is driven by her commitment and belief in the future of her only son Harvey, whom she sends to high school. 'Lucky' Jim Seymour proposes a plan that will help her gain financially. Juliane then has to increase credit to the entertainers who are under the care of real estate agent Raymond Pryer, and who can barely make ends meet. Meanwhile, Jeanne Burke, who is having an affair with Raymond, meets Harvey in a college town and gets engaged to him. After graduating, Harvey takes a job at Raymond's office, but leaves when he learns of Jeanne's affair.
