Robert Strickland is on trial for the murder of his colleague who lent him money and may have had something to do with his wife Mae, who has since disappeared. Wanting to protect his six-year-old daughter Doris from a scandal, Robert is willing to take the blame. The smart young lawyer, appointed by the court to defend him, has the child testify and the truth is revealed: Mae was having an extramarital affair.
