Southern Brazil, 1963. Young Tony Terranova, the son of a Frenchman and a Brazilian woman, has a great passion for film and poetry. After finishing school, he returns to Remanso, a small village in rural Brazil, and discovers that his father has left for France for good. Tony then seeks out the company of his father's friends, looking for information and references about a lost male role model. He becomes a teacher and a male role figure for children, in an attempt to offer them something he himself lacks.
