In 1919, Pierre Darmont, a handsome, popular piano virtuoso, falls in love with Anne Morris, a young woman who shares his tender feelings. But in an inexplicable way Anne disappears, after an unforgettable night, without being heard from again. Twenty years later, Pierre reaches the peak of his career, but he is bitter. In all that time he was unable to forget that love affair, had many relationships, but could never really commit. One evening he meets a young lady who resembles his great love Anne like two drops of water.
