Novyy Vavilon plot
Set against the backdrop of the battle of La Commune, the story is told of Louise and Jean, whose love has no chance of succeeding in a time of open class struggle. Louise, a saleswoman in the department store "het Nieuwe Babylon" is a resident of the commune. Jean, a politically disinterested man of the country, is in the service of the French army and is summoned to attack the commune.
