Novena plot
Around 1993, the Paraguayan artist Enrique Collar created a painting called "Novenario" on the occasion of the death of a woman. The woman was a resident of the town where Collar lived at the time. The painting's name comes from the tradition of holding nine days of prayer when a loved one has passed away. Now Collar returns to that place where time seems to have stood still. Collar asks the residents to tell a story about the nine days of prayer that took place at that time. Juan is the woman's eldest son and has cared for his mother for years, putting aside his own aspirations. The woman's death and the nine days of prayer gave Juan the opportunity to transform the grief of loss into a sense of freedom and release.
