When Doug's (Scott Jacoby) foster parents die, the state is responsible for the boy again. His ailing 73-year-old grandfather Hyam Malsh (Herschel Bernardi) is denied custody. Not wanting to lose his grandson, he decides, despite his many ailments, to flee the city with the boy. However, the authorities are on their tail.
