Nina plot
Nina is a doctor in the Soviet Union tasked with controlling dissident patients with excessive, unnecessary medication. She falls in love with one of her patients, Yuri. However, he has an exit permit to leave the Soviet Union and although she knows that life in exile can be painful, Nina decides to flee to London with Yuri. She leaves her son behind, but she assumes this is temporary. Their attempts to speak out about Soviet conditions are complicated when their own relationship takes a stifling turn.
