In 1918, when Estonia gained its independence, schoolboys were among its most enthusiastic defenders. Henn Ahas is one of these young people. While his classmates sign up and wait impatiently for the first encounter with the enemy, Henn hesitates and stays behind. But when his hometown comes under fire, it's time for Henn to make a decision. He joins his classmates and experiences the fears and dangers of war.
