At the beginning of the 20th century, family and friends of Anna Petrovna, the widow of a general, gather at her estate. Sofia, Anna's stepson's new wife, recognizes Misha with whom she once dated. She cannot understand that the once idealistic Misha is now married to a serious, decent woman and has a job as a teacher. Between serious conversations about social issues, Sofia and Misha's love blossoms again. Will they leave their families and run away chasing lost dreams?
