Nawi plot
Thirteen-year-old Nawi discovers that her father has sold her to an older man in exchange for a herd of goats. According to her mother, it is her destined path, and the council of elders approves. On her wedding night, Nawi flees to the capital, pursued by her own family. She is determined to fulfill her dream of going to high school.

Although the film occasionally rambles on, sometimes illogically, and moves quickly, the subject matter is important and interesting enough, making it a good, yet intense viewing experience. Arranged marriages of very young girls are unfortunately still incredibly common, and many of them don't survive because their bodies are too young to bear a child. Horrific practices in a world we barely know, which makes this film important. Highly recommended.

Nawi [Michelle Lemuya Ikeny] dreams of studying in Nairobi. On the day she discovers she has the highest score in the province on her high school graduation exam, Nawi's father [Benson Ochungo Obiero] marries her off to Shadrack [Ben Teke] to settle a family debt. Nawi escapes death in a flood, but because her family believes she drowned, she is given the chance to explore a life outside the traditional community in which she grew up. But her father and brother [Joel Liwan] continue to search for her. "Indictment Against Child Marriage" is based on true events and is well-acted by the young cast. It's a pity that the script is predictable and rather hackneyed.
