Na Etoy Zemle plot
In late 18th-century Russia, village life is defined by a fusion of rural superstition, pagan beliefs, and traces of Orthodox Christianity. Twin girls are forcibly separated when one is believed to be possessed and accused of draining her sister of her life force. Meanwhile, a young man, branded a freak and an outcast, obsessively builds mechanical wings in a desperate attempt to fly away like Icarus. This turbulent world is ruled by European feudal lords who exercise cruel, cynical control over the peasantry, heightening class tensions.
