Mexican farm worker Chu Chu-Ramirez is determined to make something of himself and improve his life. He falls in love with the disillusioned alcoholic Nancy and plans to help her overcome her illness. Meanwhile, Ramirez's unsympathetic employer Ansel Ames is accidentally injured in a shooting. Because Ames is jealous that his wife has a soft spot for Ramirez, he accuses him of attempted murder.
