After the American Civil War, Adam Brant returns home, where he finds his wife in the arms of a younger man. The two lovers hatch a plan to get rid of Adam. After their plan succeeds, Adam's daughter vows revenge. Together with her brother Orin, she wants to take their mother and her new boyfriend to court.
