Mother's Day plot
In 1993, two boys were killed in a bomb explosion in Warrington, England. One of them is 12-year-old Tim Parry, who bought a card for Mother's Day. The lives of his parents, Wendy and Colin, are turned upside down and both parents react differently to the loss. Colin seeks the publicity and campaigns, while Wendy retreats to deal with her grief. Susan McHugh is a housewife from Dublin. She sees the terrible news about the bomb explosion on television and decides to demonstrate against violence. However, she and her husband Arthur face threats afterwards.
