Mother Machree plot
"No blarney - This is a Gem from the EMERALD ISLE!"
Ellen McHugh, a poor Irish immigrant, finds a job at a carnival in America and is able to send her son Brian to a good school. However, when her kind of job comes out, Brian is expelled from the school. Mrs. McHugh feels compelled to allow the headmaster and his wife to adopt Brian. The widow McHugh becomes a housekeeper and raises the daughter of her employer - Edith - who later falls in love with Brian McHugh.
