Mother Knows Best plot

Ma Quail robs the cash register at her husband's drugstore to pay for singing and dancing lessons for her eight-year-old daughter Sally. Years later, the domineering, ambitious Ma Quail propels her daughter toward a career in show business, guiding her from amateur theater to vaudeville and finally to the big stage of Broadway. Although Sally becomes a fine actress, her mother never allows her to develop her own personality and strictly forbids any romance in her life.
