Monday after the Miracle plot

Annie Sullivan (Downey), the teacher who prepares the blind and deaf Helen Keller (Kelly) for life. Helen and Annie have developed their own way of communication, so that Helen can still read and 'talk'. Over the years a warm friendship grows between the two women, who share a house and also work together on the publication of Hellen's autobiography. When Annie falls in love with the handsome young professor John Macy (Campbell) and marries him, the close friendship between the two women threatens to be jeopardized.
