Famed DJ Alan Freed is harassed by Al and Lou backstage during a rock & roll show in New York. They are two songwriters who do everything they can to keep their heads above water. Meanwhile, teen idol Teddy Randazzo gives an interview explaining how he was discovered by Freed. The famous record turner and talent scout must be able to shake off Al and Lou, because he must practice his profession on radio.
