The Education of Jane Cumming plot

Edinburgh, 1810. Teachers Jane Pirie and Marianne Woods embark on their dream of an independent life together by opening a boarding school. Their lives are forever changed when a wealthy aristocrat enrolls her illegitimate 15-year-old granddaughter, Jane Cumming, from India. The teachers struggle to integrate the girl. Miss Pirie and Miss Woods grow closer to Jane when her grandmother insists they care for her during the summer. As a result, the boundaries between personal and professional life begin to blur.
