Mein Vater, Meine Frau und Meine Geliebte plot

Ernst Weiss (Florian Stetter), son of a respected ophthalmologist in the former Austro-Hungarian monarchy, has to follow in his father's footsteps, but is not happy about it. When the maid becomes pregnant with him, he marries her. When it turns out that she has cheated on him, he throws himself into the arms of a married woman and has a fiery romance with her. But then the First World War breaks out and Ernst has to go to the front. If Austria loses the war, Ernst also loses all his certainties.
