Meili De Dajiao plot
After her husband and son have died, farmer Zhang Meili finds a new purpose in her life by founding a school in her village in the dry desert-like northwest of China. When the worldly wise Xia Yu arrives from Beijing to help her, both women learn from each other's differences in order to provide the children with the best education. Then Xia Yu's husband comes over to persuade her to return to the city.
