Medved plot

Rich landowner Grigori Smirnov visits the people who owe him money. He will collect his money, if not willingly, then unwillingly. This brings him to the home of the young widow Yelena Popova and her servant Luka. Smirnov enters despite Luka's protest. When Yelena refuses to pay the rent, the enraged Smirnov challenges her to a duel.
