Matka Królów plot

Film about the Stalinist period in Poland, seen through the eyes of an uneducated laundress. Klemens, one of her sons, becomes a communist party activist during the war and is arrested on false grounds in 1945. He nearly succumbs to the brutal interrogation and later dies during a hunger strike in prison. During his imprisonment, the family falls apart and the political changes after the death of Stalin cannot save the helpless mother.
