Matir Moina plot

The film is set in East Pakistan in the late 1960s on the eve of a violent revolution that led to the independent state of Bangladesh. Anu (Nurul Islam Bablu) lives with his father Kazi (Jayanto Chattopadhyay), who is an Orthodox Muslim. Kazi's younger brother is involved in local politics, protesting Pakistan's military regime. He also takes Anu to the lively local Hindu festivals. Concerned about these influences and his son's spiritual upbringing, Kazi decides to send Anu to a madrasah, a strict Islamic boarding school...
