Matagi plot

Heizô, an old man, lives in the middle of the snowy mountains of northern Japan. In his youth he fought with a giant bear. Again and again he tells his cousin Taro about this battle. One day, a young girl is attacked and killed by a bear. The old man looks at the tracks and is convinced that it must have been 'his' bear. Heizô goes in search of the bear with spear and gun, accompanied by his small dog Chibi.
