Assume that behind this film is the idea that a child abandoned by his parents can be left with indelible psychological injuries.

From that point of view, I think this "Martian Child" is a well-intentioned film, more enjoyable than dramatic, and which can count on the good acting of John Cusack.

K-PAX junior, but fun. In K-PAX it was a man who thought he came from another planet, in this film we see a child in that role. As far as I'm concerned, the film is also not inferior to K-PAX, it has enough scenes worth mentioning and the adoption story also adds something. Although those elements separately are not very original, they do make a very nice and fresh film together. Nice to see once. 3.5*

Sweet, almost nowhere really special or even slightly surprising drama, unless it is the strong role of John Cusack. It is doing well here. Director Menno Meyjes does little else with the scant material and mainly colors neatly within the lines of the genre. It all looks and feels very flat. And that kid is pretty annoying.
