Mahana plot
The Mahanas and the Poatas, two sheep-shearing families from the New Zealand countryside, were at odds with each other in the 1960s. The rivalry between the families causes the families to compete for power, and this struggle does not only take place in the shaving barns. Simeon, who at fourteen is the youngest Mahana, denounces the rivalry between the families and is determined to discover what lies behind the disagreement.
