"There's no beauty without the wound"
While the English painter Francis Bacon attends the opening of a major exhibition of his work in Paris in 1971, his lover George Dyer, who is also his main model, sits depressed in a hotel room. He looks back on the turbulent years he went through with Bacon, which began when he tried to break into the painter's studio as a street boy. He was caught by the master of the house and that was strangely enough the beginning of a fierce, sometimes even dangerous love affair.
