James Tyrone is an aging actor who has long since given up on aspirations to really advance in his profession. His wife is a morphine addict who has lost touch with reality. His youngest son is a good writer, which arouses jealousy in the eldest son, an alcoholic. When one night the three Tyrone gentlemen sit back drunk, Mother decides to take a breather.
