Lo Spazio Bianco plot
Maria is expecting a little girl; she is no longer pregnant, yet she is pregnant. She is waiting for her daughter to be born or to die. If there's one thing Maria can't do, it's waiting. That's why the three months she has to spend alone, waiting for her daughter Irene to get out of the incubator, completely took her by surprise. She is used to making all decisions herself, completely independent but now she shuts out the whole world and locks herself in the white space of waiting. But this painful attempt at isolation robs her of her last strength: her mental shelter is tested and eventually collapses. Maria must first save herself if she wants to save her child.
