In the fall of 1910, a mysterious stranger arrives in the then small town of Quebec. The introverted residents are fascinated by this freedom-loving adventurer, who brings dramatic stories from the outside world to their peaceful farming village. Although he arouses jealousy and resentment in many, he is befriended and assisted by Didace, the village patriarch and in doing so he also wins Angélina's affection.
