Le Point du Jour plot

Daily life unfolds in a mining community in northern France. A young engineer, Larzac, arrives in the Lens mining area, where he has just been appointed. He will have to face the authoritarian methods of his boss, Dubard. Meanwhile, Brezza, a miner of Polish descent, wants to return to his homeland, but his fiancée, Louise, is unwilling to follow him. Her brother, Roger, has just turned 14 but doesn't want to work in the mines, while her brother, Georges, longs to marry Marie, but the couple faces housing problems.
